Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp of kosher salt
2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 tsp of cayenne red pepper
1 15 oz can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Directions
- Brown ground beef and onion in large pot until meat is brown and the onion is tender; drain off fat
- Stir in spices, and cook for a couple of minutes
- Add the tomatoes, and heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally
- Stir in beans, when warm serve chili with toppings of your choice
Notes
- If I am serving this to children, I will use tomato puree instead of diced tomatoes, and will chop the onions with a food processor. Kids often object to the texture of onions and tomatoes, rather than the taste
